On June 27-28, 2012 Beijing Demand Side Management Training was held in Beijing. The training was co-organized by NRDC and Beijing Development and Reform Commission (Beijing DRC), and served as a kick-off training workshop, as Beijing aims to further promote DSM and build up local capacity. With strong support from National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and Beijing DRC, the training turns out to be a great success with nearly one hundred participants attending. At the beginning of the training, Beijing DRC power management office signed MOUs with five partners with the purpose of establishing a DSM training partnership. Officials from both NDRC and Beijing DRC gave key note speeches and introduced the situation of DSM in China and Beijing respectively. After the opening session, experts made presentations covering DSM policies, Efficiency Power Plant (EPP) concept, Integrated Resource Planning, specific technologies including load optimization, electricity online monitor platform and M&V. In addition, the second half day on June 28 was designed to have four speakers from ESCOs to introduce their experiences on DSM. The participants gave highly positive feedback to the training.
