On July 16, 2015, NRDC held Shanghai Demand Response workshop. The workshop was specifically designed to introduce international experiences on developing business models of load aggregators, and to build local capacity. Shanghai has successfully implemented demand response pilot in 2014, and this year they're ready to take it to the next level - to introduce a market-based mechanism for sustainable demand response mechanism. Meanwhile, the four DSM pilot cities, namely Beijing, Tangshan, Suzhou and Foshan are exploring demand response this year following Shanghai's efforts. Experts from Opower and Olivine shared their experiences as residential load aggregator and power market third party, respectively. Participants from relevant government departments, electric companies, energy service enterprises and research institutes from Shanghai and four DSM pilot cities had constructive discussion with the experts.
